MetaTrader, first released by MetaQuotes Software back in 2002. It was in several versions before MT4 came out. A number of online brokers added MT4 to their trading platforms in the late 2000s due to its popularity. MT5 was launched in 2009. Brokers also adopted it because of its popularity. Almost all major metatrader 4 withdrawal fees brokerages will offer both MT4 & MT5.
